As the principal and president of Lighthouse Electrical Contracting, Inc., Herb Aikens is involved in all aspects of the business, from project management to new business development. A journeyman electrician, Herb worked on diverse projects for one of Boston’s largest electrical construction companies and several years later founded Lighthouse in 2001 at the age of 20. Since that time, Herb has spearheaded Lighthouse Electrical growth, as the firm has become a leader in renewable energy projects, commercial projects and healthcare industry projects. Herb received solar and wind energy training through the Boston Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee’s (JATC) electrical training program and considered renewable technologies to be “the future of the industry.” Since the company’s incorporation in 2002, the firm has handled more than 200 photovoltaic system installations and 15 wind energy projects.
Justin Aikens, Foreman (Wind/Solar)
Justin brings over 12 years of hands-on electrical experience to the company. Working on such innovatively engineered projects as Boston’s Shriner’s Hospital and Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium has provided Justin with the versatility, skill and competence needed to help Lighthouse Electrical excel in the emerging field of wind and solar energy.
Scott Bennett Scott’s 18 years of experience as a journeyman electrician on diverse projects has made him a great asset to Lighthouse Electrical. His strong organizational skills and attention to detail has resulted in his effective management of some of Lighthouse’s most demanding projects, especially those with tight budgets and aggressive schedule requirements. Recently, Scott managed and completed one of Lighthouse’s largest solar projects, at Carlson Orchards in Harvard, Massachusetts, which is the State’s largest solar installation at an agricultural site. He has extensive experience in tenant fit-up projects.
Ned Chaney, Project Manager (Solar) Ned brings eight years of experience in operations, project management, finance, and procurement to Lighthouse Electrical Contracting, Inc. Prior to joining Lighthouse, Ned was the Director of Program Management for a renewable energy developer and project finance company where he was responsible for the project life cycle, from development to commissioning. He has also served as the Business Director at an Engineering, Procurement and Construction company, where he provided project management of large solar energy construction projects nationwide. Ned earned an MBA from Bentley College and a BS in business administration from Boston College.
Paul Kane, Outside Supervisor
With 15 years experience in the business, Paul Kane has the expertise required to adeptly handle any project that Lighthouse takes on. His knowledge in the field, organizational skills, professional attitude and dedication to each project are immeasurable assets. Paul holds an electrical engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology and received his Journeyman status from I.B.E.W. Local 103.
William Norcott, Foreman
In the 20 years that Bill has been a licensed electrician, he has spent 16 of those years running projects of varying sizes and complexities. His diverse project experience includes electrical construction of three (3) 3-story buildings for Harvard, a 3-story building for Brandeis University, 2 floors for Weingarten Insurance, Hotel Commonwealth, and many others. Bill attended Wentworth Institute and underwent apprenticeship training with the JATC Local 103 in attaining his journeyman license.
David Holton, Chief Estimator/Senior Project Manager dholton@lighthouse-electrical.com
David has worked in the Greater Boston electrical construction industry since 1984, having earned his Masters Electrician License from I.B.E.W. Local 80 in Virginia. His 25 years of knowledge and experience in electrical contracting have enabled him to successfully execute his responsibilites as Chief Estimator and Senior Project Manager in complex, rapidly developing project environments. Through his extensive professional background in electrical construction, David provides invaluable insight into design, layout and the negotiation of schedules, especially time and price-sensitive projects.

Scott Sullivan has more than 30 years of electrical expertise in both new construction and tenant fit-up on projects in and around the downtown Boston. His extensive knowledge of the buildings in Boston as well as his understanding of what facilities managers require in these buildings makes Scott an incredible asset, both to Lighthouse Electrical Contracting, Inc. and our clients.
Newell Thomas, Project Manager (Wind/Solar) nthomas@lighthouse-electrical.com
Newell Thomas has been a professional in the renewable energy field for almost 30 years. With an engineering degree from Brown University, he has been involved with both wind and solar projects across the US. In the late 1970s, Newell restored and installed vintage Jacobs and Windcharger turbines in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has also worked with New England Wind Energy Conversion Services conducting wind site assessment for Searsburg and other potential wind sites. Newell’s expertise also includes monitoring and instrumentation of renewable energy systems. He has brought his extensive experience to many wind and solar projects while at Lighthouse.
Ivy White, Director of Operationsivy@lighthouse-electrical.com With 27 years of experience in construction administration experience, both on the general contracting (GC) and subcontractor sides of the business, Ivy has a well-rounded, practical understanding of the needs of the general contractor and the client. Her background in the industry coupled with her strong interpersonal skills make her a valuable asset to Lighthouse and our clients.
